The Healing Power of Hope
Hope illuminates our path forward in the darkness of our days.
Hope steers us as we manifest our dreams out of our imagination into our reality.
Holding hope is about holding the vision we see of our future self.
Without hope we can sink into despair. With hope we can develop courage to face our losses, our traumas, our fears. There is a transformative power to holding hope in our hearts and allowing it to help us navigate the hardest of times.
Sometimes we say, “I hope that happens.” The use of the verb hope instills doubt in us. By saying “I hope…” means we believe there is a chance the hoped for might not happen and that begins to make us doubt our expectations. Sometimes that doubt interferes with the power of hope.
I see clients transform the most tragic losses in life into the building blocks of a new life ahead by simply holding an ounce of hope in their heart that they can feel better. That ounce of hope guides them and it grows with the depth of reflection and learning that comes from unpacking the loss.
This is why I know hope heals. It is not magical thinking and it is not just wishful thinking. When we combine hope with a deeply reflective practice, then healing happens.
And that healing is transformative because it is moving you from one state of being to another. You are taking pain and transforming it into something that holds meaning for you in life. When you defy hope or become hopeless then you are surrendering to the pain and letting it take control of your life.
Making meaning in our lives starts with hope. If you do not believe life can get better and you refuse to believe you are capable of healing then your despair and bitterness becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Thus, the beginning healing journey starts with holding hope for a better tomorrow. Do not be afraid to hope. It will unlock the parts of yourself you once ran away from.
Healing is transformative when you embrace the power and the presence of hope within your mindset.
Wishing you a bounty of hopeful desires for 2026,
