Kumari of the Woods:  A Restorative Forest Bathing Retreat

in the Upper Valley of Vermont

The cottage spaces are deeply connected to nature, with stone harvested from our land and crystals intentionally placed within the walls to support your parasympathetic nervous system as you find rest and renew your energy in our forest. The stones are balanced beside the yakisugi wood torched boards and other natural elements and colors of our forest.  They have fully equipped kitchens, bathrooms with flushing toilets and tubs for bathing. Large decks span the rear of the cottages and offer a long-range view to Killington Mountain.

By August 2025, one cottage will be open for short-term stays and the second cottage should follow shortly for rent. In addition, we have three small glamping sites that we call Hideaways tucked carefully within the forest that offer a more minimalist, detached way of being one with the trees.  Each Hideaway has composting toilets, large windows that bring the forest inside, and propane grills and fire pits.

Our world can be an unsafe place filled with noise, distress, and misery. Consider booking a stay at Kumari of the Woods to be one with us in a No-Hate Zone. We welcome you to our forest and hope you experience the peaceful beauty we see every day.

Discover the power you hold within you for self-transformation and we Welcome You to Our Woods.

Shinrin yoku is the art of forest bathing and research shows that our ability to be present in a quiet, mindful way within nature will allow us to destress and release the anxiety that often follows us throughout our lives in a stressful, unpredictable, chaotic world.

Kumari Patricia and her son, Ben, are creating a forest bathing wellness retreat with short term rental spaces throughout their 51 acres in Strafford, Vermont. Kumari of the Woods is more than just a Place.  It is a way for you to rent a space that can support your spiritual growth, your healing, your need to unplug from the chaos in the world and a way for you to tap into your creativity. As our retreat gets built in phases, we will be offering workshops on the land that are optional ways, if you choose, to engage in healing, creativity, and relaxation.
